About the Resource Person: Dr. Badan Barman at present working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Library and Information Science, Gauahati University. In his past he worked as Academic Consultant and Assistant Librarian at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Assam. He holds BSc (Botany) from Guwahati College and MLISc and Ph.D. (2011) from the Department of Library and Information Science, Gauhati University. Till now he completed one major research project and two minor research project and authored and edited 11 books in his subject. His LIS Links (http://www.lislinks.com) website is much popular among the Library and Information Science professionals in India. Dr. Barman also received eNorth East Award 2011 (Jury Special Mention), KALA National Award for Young LIS Professionals (2012), 5th eNorth East Award – 2014, Jury Special Mention (2015) and a widely invited resource person in his domain.
Report of the Event: The Alumni Association of the Department of Botany, Guwahati College in association with the Department of Botany, Guwahati College organized the 1st webinar over Google Meet on 11th July, 2020 from 6.00-7.00 P.M. The webinar was started with the welcome address by Dr. Dipak Sagar Das where he briefly describes the evolution of the department and its alumni association. The webinar talk was delivered by Dr. Badan Barman covers online teaching learning through Google classroom, Google meet and Google forms and docs and later on he addressed a few questions raised by the participants. A total of 128 people from 16 states have attended the event. The vote of thanks was offered by Dr. Bula Choudhury.

About the Resource Person: Professor Narendra Lahkar is the President of Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC) – the largest and most popular body of library and information science professionals in India. He was responsible for shaping the Library and Information Science education and research in the entire North East India and beyond. He was the former Dean, Faculty of Arts, Gauhati University and served the university in the capacity of Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Gauhati University and other capacities such as Deputy Director i/c, Academic Staff College (Now UGC-HRDC), University Librarian i/c, Gauhati University and Director i/c, Pre-Examination Training Center and such other posts. He has 30 years teaching experience in the Post Graduate and research level in the university. Professor Lahkar has completed his Master Degree inLibrary and Information Science and Ph.D. from Gauhati University and MSc in information studies from the University of Sheffield (UK) under special fellowship from British government. He also acted as former President, Assam College Librarians’ Association (ACLA), former Working President and General Secretary, Assam Library Association (ALA), foundation member of Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), member of State Library Planning Committees of Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland. Professor Lahkar authored and edited 8 books on the subject and more than 35 research articles at the national and international level. Under his guideship 21 research scholars successfully completed their Ph.D. degree. He has successfully completed two major research projects sponsored by ICSSR and UGC. Professor Lahkar was honoured with Satija Research Foundation for Library and Information Science (SRFLIS) -Veena Saraf Award in 2017 in honour of his innumerable contribution towards the subject of Library and Information Science.

About the Resource Person: Dr. Rajib Gogoi is the Scientist E & Head, Sikkim Himalayan Regional Centre, Botanical Survey of India. He is widely known for discovering more than 23 new species of flora and re-discovering more than 8 species. He completed 7 projects and at present working on another four projects. Dr. Gogoi authored 2 books; more than 100 widely read and cited articles in different national and international level journals and has emerged as a leading scientist in his area of specialization.

About the Resource Person: Dr Bula Choudhury is currently working as Senior Scientist & Coordinator, Entrepreneurs at Guwahati Biotech Park, Government of Assam. She is also working as Coordinating Officer, North Eastern (NE) Cell of National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), Government of India. She is constantly coordinating with entrepreneurs for setting up biotech venture by utilising modern sophisticated equipment facilities of Guwahati Biotech Park as well as rich bio resources of North East Region of India. Before joining her present assignment she worked as an Assistant Professor, Centre for Studies in Biotechnology, Dibrugarh University, India; Visiting Scientist, Floral and Nursery Plant Research Unit, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA – ARS), MD, USA, SRF & JRF at Institute of Advanced Study in Science and technology (IASST). She has the credit of publishing more than 11 highly cited research articles in different national and international level journal.

About the Resource Person: Dr. Hemen Deka is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Botany, Gauhati University. He was awarded Ph.D. in Botany by Gauhati University in 2010. Before joining his present assignment he worked as PI & Young Scientist (Post Doc) in Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) and as Assistant Professor at BBK College, Nagaon. He has completed two projects sponsored by UGC and SERB (DST). Dr. Deka has published more than 25 research articles in different national and international journals. He was awarded with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Research Associateship (2012), Young Scientist Award for Post Doctoral and Independence Research by Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science & Technology (SERB-DST) (2013) and received overseas travel fellowship from SERB (DST) and DBT-CTEP in 2015.
